Diatomaceous Earth INS is a completely organic product, derived from the fossilized remains of Diatoms, a type of hard-shelled algae. Diatoms are phytoplankton, a food source for freshwater and marine animals. When they die, their skeletons settle to the ocean or lake floor and over time become thickly fossilized deposits. These deposits are mined and milled and sold as various grades for industrial and agricultural applications.
How it works
Diatomaceous Earth INS makes a very effective natural insecticide. The insecticidal quality of Diatomaceous earth INS is due to the razor sharp edges of the diatom remains. When Diatomaceous earth INS comes in contact with the insects, the sharp edges lacerate the bug’s waxy exoskeleton and then the powdery siliceous fossil flour absorbs the body fluids causing death from dehydration. Said more simply, Diatomaceous earth INS kills insects by drying then up. You'll see how drying DE is if you handle it with bare hands.
While Diatomaceous earth INS is a death sentence for insects, it will not harm you or your pets. Since DE is not chemical in nature and works mechanically, pests cannot build resistance to it, unlike chemical pesticides. Diatomaceous earth INS also offers the added benefits of supplying soil with micronutrients as it break down.
Application
Diatomaceous earth INS is useful around the house for control of cockroaches, silverfish, ants, bedbugs, fleas, crickets, termite and many other insects. It should be applied as a physical barrier that insects must crawl across to get it on them. Apply the dust liberally around cracks and crevices, under stoves and refrigerators, and in likely hiding places. Be sure to treat around sinks and drain pipes, and around windowsills, doors and other places where pests may enter. For bedbugs, apply generously to bedding (Between bed and mattress), and to the floor all around the bed. To control fleas in rugs and carpets, apply a thin layer of D.E. all over the area. Rake the D.E. into the fibers and leave overnight. When cleaning, do not make a special effort to remove the dust in the rug. It will continue to kill live fleas, repel others, and will help deodorize the carpet. Repeat it once a month or when necessary. After applying leave the dust for 3-4 days as it kills insects slowly.
Indoor Application
For Bed bugs you spread a newspaper on Bed (Wooden Surface) and sprinkle some powder on it (For this you can use any old talcum powder container) and then again put one more newspaper on it and then mattress. Keep this powder for 10 days and then replace it. Also in corner openings of wooden part of bed you can apply some powder. If you have bed bugs in switch box and behind tube light you can apply on that. In kitchen also just sprinkle in drawers using newspaper and near wall of cupboard and allow to remain for long time. As this is completely organic product and does not have any chemical and kills insects and pests mechanically by scratching their outer shell and absorbing there fluid and dehydrating them it will take time to get completely rid of them. In 2-3 days only bed bugs will stop biting and slowly none will be visible. In Kitchen continuous use will clear cockroaches also. This is the only insecticide which you can eat also and nothing will happen rather it will be beneficial. Do not inhale it as any dust inhaled causes irritation and it should not go in eyes else it will cause irritation. If you have pets at home then you can apply the powder on their skin and keep it for 2 days and then bath them. Pets will get rid of ticks.
Outdoor Application
For Termites
Mix 15 kg material in 100 liter water and fill the hole from where the termites are coming out with this solution. As soon as DE will dry it will start working. Also application with water will take the material deep inside from where the termites are coming out.
For insects and pests on Trees
Paint the tree by dissolving material in water. Also you can use adhesive with the material to paint so that when rain is there material does not get washed away. Repeat the application when the material washes out and also every 15th day till the problem is not solved. The action will be slow but it will be sure.
For Agriculture crops
For agriculture crops mix 500 gms material in 100 liters water and spray with a sprayer on crops. This mixture is enough for 1 acre land. The application is to be repeated every 10 days. It will also increases photosynthesis and will make crops look greener. Within 7-10 days crop will appear greener in the applied area.
